Buck-A-Neer Supper Club Contributes to Rotary’s Polio Eradication Fundposted on December 2, 2019
Marshfield, Wisconsin, December 2, 2019 — Marshfield’s Sunrise and Noon Rotary Clubs teamed with Buck-A-Neer Supper Club in Rozellville to raise funds and awareness on World Polio Day, October 24th. During October’s Business After 5 event which was hosted by Buck-A-Neer, $1 from every glass of wine or specially created “Purple Cure” drink purchased that evening was donated to Rotary International’s Polio Eradication Fund.
Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. Polio can be prevented with a vaccine. Rotary has been working to wipe out polio from the world completely for more than 30 years by making the vaccine available to children in remote and medically underserved areas. Cases have been reduced by more than 99.9 percent since the project began in 1979, and there are now only two countries left with the disease.
The event raised $75 which Buck-A-Neer generously rounded up to $100. Contributions to the Polio Fund are matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This contribution will help fully protect approximately 100 children against polio.
